Salome Bale – Fiji
Salome Bale, a 43-year-old Nurse Manager living on a remote island in Fiji, is passionate about encouraging others to prioritise their health and well-being. As a dedicated member of her community’s wellness committee, Salome is constantly striving to organise physical activity programs that promote healthy living.
Salome is excited to attend the Pacific Women’s Sport Leadership mentoring programme, as she believes the knowledge she gains will allow her to better motivate the women in her workplace and community to take ownership of their health. She plans to create a one-week program that will involve taking baseline weight and vital sign measurements, as well as offering motivational programs for those who may need extra encouragement.
Despite facing challenges related to limited resources and the remote location of the island, Salome remains committed to her project. She plans to involve all women in the planning process, while also including professional counsellors and officers to offer support and guidance. Salome is even considering implementing a weight reduction competition, with a prize for the participant who loses the most weight.
Salome’s unwavering dedication to promoting healthy living is an inspiration to us all. Let’s follow her journey and offer our support along the way.
