Job Ad: Marketing & Communications Manager, Women in Sport Aotearoa (WISPA)

The 8th IWG World Conference on Women & Sport is one of the “big four” women’s sport events coming to Aotearoa New Zealand over the next three years, alongside the World Cups in rugby, cricket and football. It is the largest gathering of global experts for gender equality in sport and physical activity and for the first time in it 25-year history, it will be a physical-digital hybrid event.
We are urgently seeking a full-time Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the strategy and delivery of a global and local sales and marketing campaign to support this event. You will also take over leadership, development and delivery of all brand and communications activity for Women in Sport Aotearoa, Ngā Wāhine Hākinakina o Aotearoa (WISPA) and the IWG New Zealand Secretariat.
This role would see you working directly into the CEO. It will include leading the development and delivery of global and local strategies, content design and production, brand and promotional assets, plus leadership of all external communications, with a particular focus on media liaison and public advocacy. You will work in partnership with the WISPA team to deliver programmes and key digital initiatives, with responsibility for the promotional campaigns and for direct liaison with key VIPs. You will also have access to and be responsible for supporting our marketing and other related agencies.

To be effective in this role you will need excellent multi-purpose written and verbal communication skills. You will need to have experience in all aspects of marketing communications, plus experience in creating content for a variety of channels including digital and social. You will have experience managing media programmes and a wide network of contacts in Aotearoa and ideally, globally. You will have also had experience in strategic planning and in regular reporting. It is anticipated that the scope and budget for this role would be suitable for an applicant with up to 10 years’ experience.
This role is full time and permanent, starting ASAP. Due to urgent need, and the fact that Aotearoa New Zealand’s borders remain closed due to COVID-19, we are only accepting applications from applicants that are already living in Aotearoa New Zealand. WISPA applies a flexi-work strategy but the successful applicant will need make themselves available in Auckland at least 3 days per week.
Your written English must be excellent. Second language(s) are very welcome (particularly Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic or Te Reo Māori). Candidates must have residency or existing work permit.
